Saudi Aramco decides on XHQ
of Siemens to link production and business data in one information
portal Siemens
has signed an agreement with Saudi Aramco, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, the
world’s leading crude oil producer, to deploy the XHQ operations
intelligence platform throughout its business. As one platform across
all petroleum operations, from wellheads, crude oil processing, gas oil
separation, gas processing, to refineries and loading terminals, XHQ
links all production and business data of Aramco in a single information
portal. With this “Real Time Operations Intelligence” solution
Aramco gets a comprehensive overview of its operations with up-to-date
analyses of everything from production and plant utilization to trends
in demand, market prices, order status and costs. On the basis of such
analyses rapid decisions can be made, procedures can be improved and
efficiency of business and production processes can be optimized. The contract with Saudi Aramco was
signed by Siemens Limited Saudi Arabia. Both companies agreed not to
disclose any information about the volume of the contract. XHQ is to be
supplied by IndX Software Corporation – a Company of the Siemens Group
Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S), a leader in the automation
of production processes with extensive capability in systems integration.
By leveraging XHQ as a standard operations intelligence platform, Saudi
Aramco will engage a variety of real-time decision support and real-time
performance management applications across many different aspects of
their business. Aramco’s deployment of XHQ as the
foundation of its Enterprise Management Solution (EMS) compliments its
use of SAP’s NetWeaver platform. Siemens has developed a comprehensive
integration between SAP NetWeaver and the Real Time Operations
Intelligence solution. The solution will allow for the seamless
integration of business data with enterprise, plant and
production-specific data from the world of Siemens in a single
information portal. The result is actionable decision support and
up-to-date comparison of actual performance versus desired business and
operational objectives with the advantage of dynamic, real-time data
from deep within plant and supply operations. Critical business
processes are visible and can be readily optimized throughout the
enterprise. Dr. Ibrahim Mishari, Saudi Aramco CIO,
stated: “Aramco has a culture of embracing innovation. Aramco will be
deploying this innovative XHQ solution throughout the company from the
wellhead upwards. Using XHQ, Aramco will integrate its production
operations with its real-time SAP system for a truly unified real-time
enterprise”.
“This partnership between Aramco
and Siemens creates a complete business solution that ranges all the way
from the automation and planning levels right up to the corporate
management level”, commented Joergen Ole Haslestad, President of
Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S). After extensive evaluation Aramco
chose the Siemens solution because of its proven ability to combine
business and operational data from multiple sources and serve users
throughout the enterprise with role-based content.
